Mobile-friendly website with custom design

Your website is often the first impression of your business. We design original, mobile-friendly sites for your brand, not pre-made templates.

How we help

We aim to produce websites that suit what you, the client, have in mind. By thoroughly going over your wants and needs before starting any designing, we save you and ourselves time so there’s less back and forth.

First we clarify the purpose of the site, attract enquiries, sell products, showcase work, share information, or give customers a place to book and stay in touch. That purpose shapes structure, content and design, so the finished site supports a real business outcome rather than looking busy without converting.

We do not use pre-made templates. Every layout, page and visual direction is designed for your business and brand, so your site does not look like a theme thousands of other companies already use. Unlike agencies that also sell “quick” template roll-outs, SqualaDesign focuses on custom design that communicates your story clearly to the people you want to reach.

We check if you like each stage of the design, so you have control and will get to see your website grow from an idea to the finished product. We don’t expect you to come up with everything, we are more than happy to suggest ideas that would suit your needs.

Every site we build is responsive: it reads and navigates well on phones, tablets and desktops, clear layout, readable type and actions that are easy to tap. Touch, screen size and speed matter as much as how the site looks on a large monitor.

We build websites on a content management system (CMS) so you can update pages, news, images and everyday content yourself without waiting on a designer for small changes. The platform depends on the project, WordPress, Drupal, SilverStripe or another CMS when that is the best fit. You get a custom front end designed for your brand, with an admin area set up around how you work. When you need help, training or ongoing care, we stay available.

  • Custom design from scratch, no pre-made templates
  • Clear purpose, audience and key messages before design starts
  • Original layout aligned to your brand
  • Responsive layouts for mobile, tablet and desktop
  • CMS chosen for the project, WordPress, Drupal, SilverStripe or another fit
  • Guidance or training on how to make common updates
  • Room to grow, shops, bookings, forms and integrations when you need them
  • Stage-by-stage reviews so you stay in control

Built to work for your business

From purpose and custom design through to a site that performs on every device, and stays useful after launch.

Purpose before pixels

We establish what the website is for, who it must speak to, and what visitors need to do next. Business sites, portfolios, information hubs and online shops each need a different structure, we recommend the right path before design begins. Prefer to map that out first? See strategy & planning.

Custom design, not a theme

Your site should feel like your business, not a popular template with swapped colours. We design original pages around your brand, services and content, then build them properly so the result matches the design, not a generic theme skin.

Responsive and ready to grow

Most visits arrive on a phone. We design for touch, readability and speed across devices, then leave room to add e-commerce, bookings, marketing or custom features when you need them, with SEO and support available after launch.

A CMS you can actually use

A well-chosen CMS means you are not locked into calling a web designer every time a phone number, price or blog post needs updating. We recommend the platform that fits the project, often WordPress, and also Drupal, SilverStripe or another CMS when complexity, security, workflows or long-term ownership call for it. The front end is always custom to your brand; the admin is set up so everyday edits stay practical. Need an online shop? Catalogue size guides the stack: under about 50 products we often use WooCommerce; larger catalogues usually suit Shopify or Magento. Prefer us to handle updates? Our support & maintenance keeps the site secure and current.

What to do next

With the site direction set, the next stage is UI/UX design, so pages feel clear, usable and built to convert on every device.
