Privacy Policy & cookies
This page explains what personal information SqualaDesign Ltd collects on this website, why we use it, and how we handle cookies and analytics tools.
Who we are
SqualaDesign Ltd (“we”, “us”) operates this website. We design and build websites, branding, e-commerce and marketing for New Zealand and international clients.
Contact for privacy questions: daniela@squaladesign.co.nz
We handle personal information in line with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. If you are in the European Economic Area or UK, we also respect the principles of GDPR / UK GDPR for information we process about you.
What we collect
Information you send us
When you use the contact form or email us, we may collect:
- Name and email address
- Phone number (if you provide one)
- Message content and project details
- Technical signals used to reduce spam (for example honeypot / rate checks)
We use this to reply to enquiries, prepare quotes, and deliver work you ask us to do.
Website analytics and session tools
If you accept analytics cookies, we use:
- Google Tag Manager (GTM) to load measurement tags
- Google Analytics 4 (GA4) for aggregated traffic and usage statistics
- Microsoft Clarity for session insights and heatmaps (to improve usability)
These tools may set cookies or similar technologies and process approximate location, device/browser type, pages viewed, and interactions. Clarity may record anonymised or hashed session activity for quality improvement.
Security on forms
Our contact form uses Google reCAPTCHA to help block bots. Google may collect device and usage data under Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
Cookies
We use these categories:
- Essential — needed for the site to work (for example remembering your cookie choice). These do not require consent.
- Analytics & experience — GTM, GA4 and Microsoft Clarity. These load only if you accept analytics cookies in our banner.
You can change your mind any time: clear site data for squaladesign.co.nz in your browser, or use the control to see the banner again.
Third-party providers (Google, Microsoft) may process data on their servers outside New Zealand. Their own policies apply to how they handle that data.
How we use and share information
We use personal information to:
- Respond to enquiries and provide services
- Operate, secure and improve this website
- Understand how the site is used (when analytics are enabled)
- Meet legal or accounting obligations where required
We do not sell your personal information. We may share it with trusted processors who help us run the site or deliver work (for example email delivery / SMTP, hosting, Google or Microsoft analytics tools), under appropriate arrangements.
We keep enquiry records only as long as needed for the project relationship or legitimate business records, then delete or anonymise them when no longer required.
Your rights
Under the Privacy Act 2020 you can ask to access or correct personal information we hold about you. Email daniela@squaladesign.co.nz. You may also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.
If EU/UK data protection law applies to you, you may also have rights to erasure, restriction, objection or portability where those laws provide them — contact us and we will help where we can.
